EPFO has introduced a uan member portal, from where you can have various services. Prior you needed to be at the EPF office to have such service but now all can be done online.
There are various services like the status of PF transfer, EPF balance, update KYC, check every transaction and to get monthly alerts to your mobile using the member portal. Let us see the various services which can be had from such a portal.

What is UAN?
12 digit number allocated by epfo to reduce employer involvement. (misuse of pf scheme). more benefits to the employees. PF Account changes but UAN Not changes at all.

How to Generate / KNow UAN?
first of all, employee UAN is already allocated by epfo but employers have to generate the uan number.
you can check UAN is allocated or not (UAN Status)by PF Number (member id), even with aadhaar and pan card details (if KYC seeded).

visit the epfinda.com click on our services then select employees.
there you may notice uan services online for members.
click on that option to go uan services portal from epf India main site.
click on know your uan status.
Enter the required details like pf, aadhar, pan number to know uan.
once confirmed mobile OTP. you will see the uan number.
UAN Registration & Activation
Documents required for UAN Registration
- Aadhaar
- PAN
- Bank details
- Mobile Number working.
if any of the above documents not seeded your pf account uan registration cannot process further.
this process same as uan status. uan portal>> activate uan>> same from above>>
this time enter your uan and mobile number.
confirm the –OTP. the password will be sent to your mobile SMS. once you logged into uan portal you can change the password.

If you have activated your UAN then you can have the e-passbook for your EPF account. This passbook will allow you to have knowledge about the balance that you have in your account.

Login to UAN member Portal with UAN Number & password.
Once you have logged in please click on Update >> KYC as seen on below image.
Documents required for KYC Update
- Aadhaar (Its mandatory to avoid duplicates & used as ID & address proof)
- PAN (ID Proof & tax id)
- Bank Account Details (Ifsc, Account Number, bank name)
- Voter Id, Passport, ration card. driving license etc
How to update KYC?
Select the Document Type and Enter Document Number
Fill the additional details if required.
Finally, click on save.

Wait for few days (15 days )for approval of employer and epfo officer.

PF Transfer Old to New Employer @ uan Portal
New Automatic PF Transfer:
Ensure your Aadhaar number seeded & UAN is activated.
Then inform the Your New Employer, with uan & aadhaar details. then pf account automatically transferred to new.

What is UAN Number?

The 2 step process of UAN Activation
- visit uan portal,
- Click on activate UAN, enter your UAN / pf / aadhar / pan card number (any one of these along with your profile details).
- Name, Number, DOB, father name (these should be mandatory).
2. Activation / registration of epfo member
- Once you find the uan number click on set password by authorizing mobile with OTP.
- Then you can login to uan portal.
Remember: UAN number is (username) and password is your created early. these are credentials to epfo member portal.
if you forgot uan password. you can reset it by your mobile number.
Changing the mobile number is possible. but if you lost old mobile number then you have to contact the employer.
How to Know/ generate UAN Number?
You can ask your employer to provide you the number. If they are not able to provide you the number then also there are ways of knowing the number.
The employee has to be at the uan portal https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
and click on UAN Status the form will appear as below.
Enter the EPF number, PAN or aadhaar
You then need to click on Check UAN Status and you will be shown the status of your UAN.
If it shows UAN is activated you need to contact your employer.
Note down the UAN Number proceed for uan portal registration or activation.

The process to activate your UAN is as below.
- Member has to be at the epfo portal http://www.epfindia.com/.
- Then click on our services >> members>> members uan/online (OCS /OTCP).
- That option will bring you to uan portal, then click on Activate UAN.
- You need to enter your UAN, mobile number and EPF account details
You will receive a PIN in your mobile number
You need to submit the OTP in order to activate your UAN. click on “Validate OTP and Activate UAN”.
Password will be sent to your mobile number later you can change it.
